Infinity Son by Adam Silvera

Title: Infinity Son
Series: Infinity Cycle, #1
Author: Adam Silvera
Expected Publication Date:  January 2020
Balancing epic and intensely personal stakes, bestselling author Adam Silvera’s Infinity Son is a gritty, fast-paced adventure about two brothers caught up in a magical war generations in the making.

Growing up in New York, brothers Emil and Brighton always idolized the Spell Walkers—a vigilante group sworn to rid the world of specters. While the Spell Walkers and other celestials are born with powers, specters take them, violently stealing the essence of endangered magical creatures.

Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join the fray. Emil just wants the fighting to stop. The cycle of violence has taken a toll, making it harder for anyone with a power to live peacefully and openly. In this climate of fear, a gang of specters has been growing bolder by the day.

Then, in a brawl after a protest, Emil manifests a power of his own—one that puts him right at the heart of the conflict and sets him up to be the heroic Spell Walker Brighton always wanted to be.

Brotherhood, love, and loyalty will be put to the test, and no one will escape the fight unscathed.

This might be my first and last book from Adam Silvera. I am totally not an audience of this kind of genre, but then I still did give it a try since some books with LGBTQ characters are sometimes unexpectedly good. But then, my focus started drifting off from the story at the fifth chapter. I was totally at lost and don’t know how to comprehend what was really happening. Aside from loss of narrative structure, proper introduction to some things I don’t want to name, it has a very annoying characters. God! The characters are whiny, self absorbed, and confusing. There are also some POV of characters that just suddenly pops up and I have no idea who are they.

The world-building is good. Actually it was promising enough, but then the execution of plot and flow of the story was what really sucks. And that cliff hanger at the end is just another no, no for me.

Anyway. Not seeing myself picking up his book anytime soon. I was really annoyed that it was a total waste of time after reading it.

Thank you @definitelybooks #pansing for providing me an Advance Copy of this book.

This book will be available in all good bookstore by January 2020!
