Khamsin, a Princess of Summerlea but unwanted, despised and blamed by her father for her mother's death, was a very strong woman, not a typical pampered princess. She had her own set of hardship in terms of wanting the acceptance of her father. She was thrown at the very hidden part of the castle and outcasted as part of the Summerlea Family. And then she was tortured by his own father in marrying the King of Wintercraig. Winter, the King of Wintercraig seeked revenge to the Prince of Summerlea Falcon, for killing his brother and stealing his bethroned, took the Ice Heart and conquered Summerlea. As part of his revenge he married one of the Princesses of Summerlea to spite the King of Summerlea. He didn't choose, any of the three loved Pricesses of the King will do, as long as it will break the heart of the evil king. But little did Winter know that the King of Summerlea had 4 Princesses. The King of Summerlea get's conned Winter into marrying Khamsin, still a princess but not one cherished by the King.
The characters are all well developed. I felt the instant connection to the characters that makes the reading interesting. I just love both Winter and Khamsin. I am for instant not a fan of insta-love. But this book certainly has an instant attraction between the two main Protagonist. And I really I don't mind because first, they might be attracted to each other at the very first time, but the author certainly took her time to let the 2 characters know each other. Second, they fight and Oh boy am I not giggling with there nonsense fights. Hahahaha. Winter, even though he was deceived he was still outraged on Khams behalf. He was still thoughtful and gentle towards Khamsin.
"He was smiling. The fresh air, white snow, blue sky, and bright golden sun made her feel happy and light-hearted. It was a perfect, beautiful day. The kind of day he’d sculpted in the Atrium. The kind of day he’d known so many of as a child. And then she realized what he was doing. He was giving her a memory of her own to cherish. "
The World-building was well crafted, it was also very interesting how magic and elements are being described as part of every Kindom. The Summerlea and Wintercraig are just one of those names I just can't get enough. I just love the names, and it already speaks volumes on what Magic the certain Kingdom has. The ending was also unpredictable.
The pace of the story is fast enough at certain chapters. But I also realize that the story was kinda' LONG. At certain point I realize that the story could have accomplished a same ending if only some unnecessary scenes are being deleted instead of just making the story too long.
But overall, I loved the story, It is a little bit hard to finish because of the long story but still, I mostly enjoyed reading this.
